The other morning, the Developer Channel version of Google Chrome prompted me to upgrade with the following text box:

Chrome Upgrade Message

Updated with my own screenshot

So I dutifully updated as I usually do, only to start experiencing crashes on just about any page I loaded. I know Google was going for humour here, but I think they were oddly prophetic this time….

I’ve done three installs of Service Pack 2 for Office 2007. Of the three, two have had major issues with Outlook. To sum things up:

Install #1: Office 2007 on Windows 7 x64 — Updated from an SP1 Integrated install. Worked without a hitch.

Install #2: Office 2007 Pro-Plus on Windows XP SP3 — Updated from an SP1 Integrated install. Outlook constantly crashed when attempting to Forward, Reply, or Create New messages.

Install #3: Also Office 2007 Pro-Plus on Windows XP SP3 — Clean install with SP2 Integrated. Crashed immediately after setting up my Exchange account. emsmdb32.dll seems to be the issue.

So all said and done, I still have to test it on Vista SP2 systems, but I think it may be a while before I push this out to staff and client computers at work using WSUS.
